CBCGDF Representatives Will Attend the CBD COP16 Resumed Meeting

 The resumed sessions of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol and the fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol (the“Meetings” hereinafter), will take place on 25-27 February 2025 at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Meetings will be preceded by regional preparatory consultations on 24 February 2025.

 


The International Department of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has completed the formation of the delegation and passed the nomination review of the CBD Secretariat. The delegation will attend the meeting in person.

 

As an observer of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), CBCGDF was invited to participate in the COP16 event and held a biodiversity technology and innovation exhibition with the theme of "The Road to Harmony between Man and Nature" during the conference.

 

The exhibition covered community protected areas and OECMs, the joint release of the "African and Asian Desert Locust Disaster Monitoring and Assessment Report" with the Vegetation Remote Sensing Mechanism and Pest Application Team of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the promotion of ecological restoration, species reintroduction, public participation and other aspects with human-based solutions, showing the long-term efforts of Chinese social organizations in biodiversity conservation, especially the bottom-up efforts.
