CBCGDF Volunteers Found Black Bear Footprints In the Mountains During Patrol And Removed 25 Nooses
Recently, volunteers from the Black Bear Conservation Area of Wuchang Phoenix Mountain of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) went deep into the conservation area to start a new round of patrol operations. During this patrol operation, the volunteers made a significant discovery.
The winter in Northeast China is very cold, especially in the deep mountains and old forests. The snow is very thick, and the road up the mountain is not easy to walk. In the valley, there are footprints of animals, including birds, weasels, black bears, etc. This place has become a whiteboard for animals to doodle. The volunteers were surprised to find that these footprints all pointed to one place. Following the direction, the volunteers found a spring with little water and some heat. The river surface is frozen in winter. This is the water source for animals, which is why the animals gather here without any prior agreement.
The volunteers were very distressed along the way. They actually found and removed 25 nooses. The small noose looks ordinary, but once the animals are caught by these nooses, they may only die. Especially in winter, this kind of noose is very common because it is simple to make. In addition to the noose, volunteers also need to pay attention to their feet. They may accidentally step on the animal traps buried under the snow and covered by debris. Some are very powerful and easy to be injured. Although some are not powerful, the animal traps will become tighter and tighter, and the animals cannot break free by themselves.
The volunteers gained a lot from this patrol. They not only removed 25 snares, leaving a peaceful environment for nature, but also witnessed the magic of nature. Volunteers believe that it is necessary to strengthen patrols in winter, especially at a time when the topic of "human-animal conflict" has attracted much attention due to the "Siberian tiger mauling incident". However, as the concept of ecological civilization has gained popularity, we have reason to believe that the beautiful vision of harmonious coexistence between man and nature will surely become a reality.
