On December 2, 2024, Professor Lamin K. M. Fatty from Gambia, Dean of the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the University of The Gambia, arrived in Beijing after a 29-hour flight and started his visit to China. In order to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, the International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCFDF) interviewed Professor Fatty that night.

Professor Lamin K. M. Fatty talked about how to practice the concept of green development on the basis of promoting food income in the process of China-Africa agricultural cooperation, promote ecological agriculture, agricultural sustainability and biodiversity protection; and how to avoid land degradation and biodiversity loss caused by agricultural expansion. He said: Our environmental aspirations are consistent. So with the environmental Protection, with our agricultural production, we must put into consciousness of environment issues because agriculture cannot be separated from environment. They are together. So in as much as we are trying to make sure agriculture development must be conscious of our environmental issues, our biodiversity, because they goes together. So we must make sure the environment in terms of preventing soil degradation, preventing our natural resources, we develop our forest, we develop our natural habitats, just as what we are trying to do.”
