In
2024, the Fourth Fishery Administration Squadron of the Agricultural Law
Enforcement Brigade of Songbei District, Harbin City, of the Songha Wetland
Conservation Area of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation
(CBCGDF), achieved remarkable results in combating illegal fishing and
protecting fishery resources. A total of 81 special law enforcement actions
were carried out throughout the year, an average of more than 6 times a month,
and 324 law enforcement personnel were dispatched to clean up illegal fishing
tools such as hanging nets and ground traps, effectively combating illegal
fishing. During the 77-day fishing ban period, all members of the squadron
worked without rest, dispatched 70 day shifts and 35 night shifts to ensure law
enforcement. Through media publicity and posting notices, the public's
understanding and compliance with the fishing ban policy has been improved.
In
terms of handling reports and complaints, the squadron handled a total of 254
cases, with a completion rate of 99%, showing a zero-tolerance attitude towards
illegal acts. At the same time, the volunteers' reports were taken seriously,
and 33 illegal occupations of wetlands were cleared and banned. They actively
cooperate with volunteers to carry out special cleaning of illegal fishing gear
such as family-killing nets. A total of more than 300 ground traps and 1,800
meters of hanging nets were cleaned throughout the year, which was highly
recognized by volunteers.
Through
these actions, the Fourth Fishery Administration Squadron not only protected
the water ecology and fishery resources, but also raised the public's awareness
of fishery resource protection, demonstrated the strictness of law enforcement
and zero tolerance for illegal acts, and made positive contributions to
building a beautiful home and protecting the mother river.
