Dead coral reefs lie quietly on the beach of the Haihua Island, in Hainan Province. Ten years after the construction of the Haihua Island, it was found that there were no living corals within 600 meters of the shore. The once living corals were all dead. ©CBCGDF Media

As we all know, tourism is the pillar industry of Hainan Province. Hainan has extremely rich natural resources and tourism resources. How to develop the tourism industry well? The answer is to develop the responsible tourism.

Responsible tourism is a way of traveling that aims to have a positive impact on the environment, local communities, and wildlife. It involves tourists, businesses, governments, and local people taking responsibility for the economic, social, and environmental effects of tourism. Responsible tourism is different from sustainable tourism, which focuses on holding organizations accountable for reducing their environmental impact. Responsible tourism places the responsibility on both individuals and companies to reduce their impact on the environment and communities.
