Zhou Jinfeng Visits Miyun District, Beijing for a Study and Discussion on the Ecological Restoration of Mining Areas

Recently, Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, President of the World Academy of Sustainable Development and Member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences and leaders of relevant departments in Miyun District discussed the restoration of mining areas again.

Dr. ZHOU proposed that Miyun District should introduce the concept of "One Health" on the basis of establishing the "World Biodiversity Park", and proposed to make good use of the excellent climate and geographical conditions of Miyun District, and look at the world with the method of biodiversity, not only for Miyun District, but also for Beijing to create a good place for study and recuperation.

Dr. ZHOU introduced the “peatlands" elements in restoration. Peat is a natural organic mineral formed by the transformation of dead plant residues under waterlogging reduction conditions. It is a new type of green agricultural material and biomass energy. It has high organic matter content, strong adsorption of harmful substances such as heavy metals, strong air permeability, water retention and fertilizer retention, and no bacteria. It can be widely used in soil restoration, ecological environmental protection, agricultural production and other aspects, and is an effective matrix for creating excellent soil habitats.

Relevant leaders of Miyun District expressed their gratitude to China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) for its guidance and support in resources, restoration direction and technology, and hopes that CBCGDF would continue to provide strong support the restoration of mining areas.
