Active participation is welcome! CBCGDF Standards Committee Held the Kick-off Meeting for Revision of ESG Evaluation Criteria

On the morning of October 12, 2024, the Standards Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held a kick-off meeting for the revision of The ESG Evaluation Criteria, which was presided over by Ma Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF, and attended by personnel of the Standards Revision Team.

Regarding the standard revision, the head of the standard revision working group put forward the overarching opinions from seven aspects:

1. Materials. Are the materials involved in the construction of the park adequately considering the 4Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle, replace)? It is important that this includes the full life cycle, including consideration of the 4Rs of the park 100 years from now.

2. EIA. To examine the specificity of the site from underground, above ground, and in the air.

3.Process. Construction process, operation process, cessation and its aftermath process should be fully emphasized, especially the green design pre-done for the operation process is very important.

4.Ideology. The consensus of ecological civilization ideas of all involved parties, especially the owner, but also the constructor, the supplier, the customer, and the use of ESG tools are all important.

5. Ecological civilization and ESG.

6. Spatial efficiency.

7. In situ conservation of wilderness.

The revision of the standards should be updated in a timely manner and supplemented with distinctive and innovative content.

ESG is closely related to biodiversity and climate protection, and the newly revised standards should better reflect them and show the responsibility and influence of the CBCGDF. The latest progress of ESG research work at home and abroad should be fully utilized, the composition of assessors should be scientific and reasonable, and the indicator system and overall content should be updated. The concepts of ecological responsibility, Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) and Human-based Solutions (HbS) should be fully reflected to guide the standardized and healthy development of ESG evaluation.

Social organizations and experts in ESG environment, society and governance related fields are welcome to participate in the standard revision, contact: v23@cbcgdf.org
