CBCGDF Suggested Strengthening the Environmental Protection Work of Wind Power and Photovoltaic Solar Energy Generation Projects and Achieved Remarkable Results

In recent years, the "dual carbon" goal has promoted the rapid development of new energy projects represented by wind power and Photovoltaic Solar Energy generation. While promoting the clean and low-carbon transformation of the energy industry, the impact of wind power and photovoltaic power generation construction projects on the ecological environment needs to be highly valued.

In order to protect biodiversity and correctly handle the relationship between high-quality development and high-level protection, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Policy and Law Department  sent a letter to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as early as 2021, suggesting that the biodiversity impact assessment of wind power and photovoltaic base projects be strengthened, and specific suggestions were made from three aspects: First, strictly implement the one-vote veto system for project construction for environmental protection; Second, biodiversity investigation and assessment should be an important part of the environmental impact assessment of wind power and photovoltaic base construction projects; Third, strengthen the supervision of wind power and photovoltaic base construction projects.

The above suggestions have received a positive response in the "Notice on Strengthening Ecological and Environmental Protection of Onshore Wind Power and Photovoltaic Power Generation Construction Projects (Draft for Comments)" recently announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
