Volunteers from CBCGDF CCAfa in Suihua City and the Local Police Cracked an Illegal Hunting Case and Rescued 30 Wild Birds

On October 23, 2024,volunteers from the Suihua Wetland Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) and other social organizations, in conjunction with the local police from the Food, Drug and Environmental Crime Investigation Team of the Beilin Branch of the Suihua Municipal Public Security Bureau successfully cracked an illegal birds hunting case.

CBCGDF volunteers accidentally found a large bird net and bird cage in the woods near the Binbei Line in Beilin District, Suihua City. Faced with this situation, the volunteers immediately contacted the law enforcement officers of the Food, Drug and Environmental Investigation Team.

Subsequently, the two sides jointly squatted at the scene for 4 hours, and finally successfully locked and arrested the suspect and took him back to the Public Security Bureau for questioning.

In this operation, the officers and volunteers worked together to dismantle and destroy a bird net on the spot, and successfully rescued 30 trapped wild birds, 10 of which have been released on the spot and returned to nature.

This case once again reminds us to pay attention to the issue of wildlife protection. The volunteers strongly called on the relevant departments of Suihua City to attach great importance to such illegal acts, increase crackdown efforts, and widely carry out publicity and education activities on the Wildlife Protection Law to effectively enhance the public's awareness of wildlife protection.
