CBCGDF Submits Four Suggestions on the National Standard "Safety Technical Specification for Electric Bicycles" | CBCGDF Climate Working Group

In September 2024, the national standard "Safety Technical Specification for Electric Bicycles" has been publicly soliciting for comments.

The Climate Change Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) actively responded to the call and organized research. On the base of discussion, the CBCGDF Climate Change Working Group puts forward four suggestions to improve relevant content on overall environment and sustainability and to promote the sustainable development of electric bicycles.

First, it is recommended to clarify the service life requirements of electric bicycles in the specification. Second, it is recommended to clarify in the specification that manufacturers must provide at least five years of warranty service. Third, it is recommended to add relevant content about the overall recycling of electric bicycles in the specification. Fourth, it is recommended that the sustainability content of battery replacement and upgrades be clarified in the standard to encourage companies to design modular batteries.
