CBD COP16 kicked off | CBCGDF Delegation Actively Attended the Conference

The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will convene in Cali, Colombia from 21 October to 1 November 2024.

UN leaders and national representatives urged that the nearly 200 countries meeting in Colombia for the CBD COP16 summit must act urgently to mobilize billions of dollars to stop rapid nature destruction.

COP16 is tasked with figuring out how to implement Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework agreement with a list of 23 goals to help halt nature loss by 2030.

Countries established the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund last year, but speakers at the opening of the summit lamented that it has thus far only raised millions and not the billions envisioned.

As the observer to CBD, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) sent the delegation to attend the COP16 to actively participate in the global biodiversity governance.
