CBCGDF Project Working Group Launches a Comprehensive Investigation to Study the Ecological Restoration and Biodiversity of Mining Areas

In October 2024, the Project Working Group of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) officially launched the biodiversity investigation project in the two major mining areas of Shouyun and Weike in Miyun District, Beijing, aiming to gain an in-depth understanding of the ecological status of the mining area, identify the transformation difficulties it faces, and provide data support for future ecological restoration and reparation work.

After completing the resource mining task, the mining area often faces a series of ecological restoration and reparation problems. Soil pollution, vegetation destruction, water pollution and loss of biodiversity are all common ecological problems in mining areas. In order to deal with these problems, CBCGDF project working group decided to conduct an in-depth biodiversity investigation on the two major mining areas of Shouyun and Weike in order to find an effective ecological restoration plan.

In order to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the investigation results, CBCGDF project working group use infrared camera method and sample line method to investigate mammals and amphibians respectively. The researchers will complete the first phase of the biodiversity investigation report based on the collected data, analyze the ecological problems faced by the mining area and put forward targeted ecological restoration suggestions.
