Species Occurrence Data of Phytomia zonata in Beijing Published on The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)
The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) has recently published species occurence data of Phytomia zonata from Wudaokou, Haidian District, Beijing. It's reported by citizen scientist Shouyong Chen to the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF).
Phytomia zonata, native to East Asia including China, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and the Russian Far East, plays a vital role in agricultural and forestry ecosystems, contributing to the health of plant populations. Found primarily in mountain forests, grasslands, and agricultural fields, these insects prey on aphids, with their larvae parasitizing host organisms to complete their life cycle. They are also widely utilized in biological pest control, particularly effective against aphid pests.
As a Chinese data publisher for GBIF, the CBCGDF actively facilitates biodiversity data reporting from citizen scientists, supporting global access to biodiversity information and advancing biodiversity science and policy.
GBIF, funded by governments worldwide, serves as an international network and data infrastructure aimed at making data on all forms of life on Earth accessible to everyone, everywhere. Since joining GBIF in 2018, the CBCGDF has been dedicated to supporting scientists, citizen scientists, and conservationists to contribute biodiversity information from Chinese communities.
