Linda Wong Invited to Share Highlights and Key Points of IUCN 20 Year Strategic Vision

On 29 July 2024, the IUCN Youth Advisory Committee Dialogue on IUCNs 20-Year Strategic Vision was held as scheduled. Ms. Linda Wong, Deputy Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) and member of the IUCN 20-Year Strategic Vision Steering Committee, attended the meeting as a special guest and shared the highlights and key points of the IUCN 20-Year Strategic Vision draft document with the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) members.

The dialogue covered a variety of topics related to IUCNs 20-year Strategic Vision, with the aim of enabling in-depth exchange and communication of views on the 20-year Strategic Vision with YAC members. 

Dr. Grethel Aguilar, Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) presents the 20-year strategic vision for IUCN, highlighting the role of youth in shaping the future and emphasizing the need for a positive transformation of the planet. She encourages active participation and input from the youth in the decision-making process.

Linda Wong shared the highlights and key points of the IUCN 20-Year Strategic Vision draft document with the YAC members.

The meeting emphasized the pivotal role of youth in shaping the future and advocating for a positive transformation of the planet. The YAC was highlighted as a key contributor to the vision, with various avenues for input and engagement, including completing a questionnaire, participating in an online survey, and engaging in regional conservation forums.

The meeting encouraged open discussion and active participation, with various tools utilized to gather input and feedback, including Mentimeter, chat, and verbal contributions. The participants shared their thoughts and feelings on various aspects of the vision, including policy influence, technical expertise, innovation, youth focus, and resilience to politics. Ms. Yanjun Xu, International Coordinator of CBCGDF, member of IUCN YAC attend the meeting online.
