Where Do We Go under Extreme Weather? Here Are Some Suggestions form Experts| Report by CBCGDF-SSBSP (1)

At present, human society is suffering from various extreme weather such as rainstorms and floods, high temperature heat waves, strong winds and dust. In such a severe situation, what can ordinary people do? What do they need to know? How to further enhance the practice and understanding of environmental protection and green development among the general public?

Professor YUE Xiaoguang, Executive Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation South-South Biodiversity Science Project(CBCGDF-SSBSP) and European University of Cyprus, sorted out some relevant questions and interviewed several members of the International Engineering and Technology Association (IETI), hoping that they can give some easy-to-understand answers to this. The following is the relevant interview content:

Yue: How much influence do factors such as global warming, natural changes or human activities have on the occurrence and intensification of extreme weather?

Professor M. James C. Crabbe, President of the International Engineering and Technology Association (IETI) and Wolfson College, University of Oxford, UK, answered: This is a good question. There is a lot of evidence that human activities are causing climate change and global warming, including some natural changes. Greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide, methane, etc. are the main culprits, including various subsequent effects caused by burning fossil fuels. Climate change means not only more heat, but also more extreme events, such as stronger typhoons, more rainfall, etc. Stopping the use of fossil fuels should be the first goal, although reducing energy use is also important.

Prof. Yue Xiaoguang has long been focusing on research in many important fields such as intelligent information processing, green development, and general education. In terms of intelligent information processing, he is committed to exploring cutting-edge technologies and tapping the potential value behind data to achieve efficient use and accurate processing of information.
