CBCGDF Submitted 11 Suggestions on the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Protection of Cultural Relics (Second Draft for Comments)"

Recently, the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has been publicly soliciting opinions on the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Protection of Cultural Relics) (Second Draft for Comments)".

Compared with the first draft released in October, 2023, the Second Draft has been improved in the following five aspects: 1. Strengthen the survey and special investigation of cultural relics; 2. Highlight and improve the protection of cultural relics related to the Communist Party of China; 3. Strengthen the fire safety management of cultural relics; 4. Make cultural relics come alive; 5. Encourage and support social forces to participate in the cause of cultural relics protection.

The Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attaches great importance to the solicitation of opinions for the second draft. After careful study, eleven suggestions were put forward for the chapters including general provisions, immovable cultural relics, archaeological excavations, folk collection of cultural relics and legal responsibilities.
