CBCGDF "Migratory Bird Lifeline" Project Rescued an Oriental White Stork that Fell in Rice Field | CBCGDF BCON
On the morning of June 24, 2024, the patrol personnel of the "Migratory Bird Lifeline" project, a joint project of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and the Tangshan Power Supply Company in Hebei Province, were carrying out routine transmission line patrols. While passing through a large rice field in the Heiyanzi Wetland Area ofFengnan, they once again found a large white bird that fell in a rice field.
After the line patrol personnel found this large white bird, they quickly determined that it was a common national first-class wild animal Oriental White Stork(Ciconia boyciana) in this area. The line patrol personnel immediately called the nearby rescue station for help.
This year, there are a total of 10 nests of Oriental White Storks that have returned to the wetlands in the Heiyanzi area to raise chicks. It is now early July. Some Oriental White Storks have left the transmission towers after the young birds left the nest, but there are still 5 nests on the west and north sides of the Qinbin Expressway that have not left. In response to this, the Tangshan Power Supply Department has arranged to protect the safety of these white storks during daily line patrols in Laoting and Caofeidian areas.
