Nature Observation Notes by CBCGDF BCON | July 4, 2024

On the morning of July 4, 2024, the Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighbourhood(BCON)Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) recorded the plant (Hibiscus syriacus) in Beijing.

The staff of the BCON Working Group found that various insects (such as aphids) often appeared on the blooming hibiscus trees. She observed that there were traces of "patrol" ladybugs on the leaves naturally, which is nature's green biological prevention and control mechanism.

Hibiscus syriacus is a plant of the Malvaceae family. It is distributed in the southeast and southwest of my country, including Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong and other places.
