As the observer of CITES, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) does a lot of work related to the protection of plants, including Clean Internet for Conophytum (CIC) initiative.

The Clean Internet for Conophytum (CIC) initiative is a conservation endeavor initiated by CBCGDF, a leading Chinese conservation group and a IUCN member founded in 1985. The initiative aims to combat illegal wildlife trade, particularly the transnational plundering and illicit trade of succulent plants, by purifying online trading platforms. Launched on March 9, 2023, the CIC action has garnered widespread support and engagement from the public, conservationists, horticulturists, and businesses. By late 2023, about 120 articles for awareness promotion have been published, and an Environmental Public Interest Litigation (EPIL) has been filed against suspected organised wildlife crimes.

This conservation effort is dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and addressing the challenges posed by illegal wildlife trafficking, with a specific focus on the unlawful trade of succulent plants. The initiative seeks to foster a sense of responsibility among online platforms and users to curb these illegal activities, emphasizing the importance of collective action in protecting the Earth's diverse ecosystems.

By raising awareness, mobilizing public support, and encouraging responsible business practices, the Clean Internet for Conophytum initiative endeavors to contribute to the broader global mission of preserving biodiversity and fostering a harmonious coexistence within the Earth's interconnected web of life.
