CBCGDF CCAfa Volunteers Rescue Trapped Ducklings
On July 1, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) volunteers were patrolling during the fishing ban period. At the 300-meter shallow beach of the Songhua River in Harbin, volunteers rowed close and found a large wild duck and a group of small wild ducks trapped in the net. The volunteers cleaned the nets, rescued them and released them back into the wild. The volunteers smiled happily as they watched the wild duck family flapping their wings and disappearing into the water grass.
Why were the wild ducks trapped in the net? Volunteers analyzed that although it was a fishing ban, there were still illegal fishermen fishing. The curious little duck was attracted by the small fish in the net while foraging, and without knowing the depth, it dived into the fishing net. Other little wild ducks followed suit and got into the net one by one. Fortunately, the volunteers found it in time, otherwise the wild ducks would have died due to starvation, sun exposure and waterlogging.
In order to ensure harmonious coexistence between humans and organisms and to protect biodiversity, volunteers from CBCGDF CCAfa called for severe crackdowns on illegal fishing crimes to make the ecological environment of the Songhua River more harmonious and beautiful.
