Visitor Throwing Cola Bottle at Giant Panda Sparks Concern: Civilized Tourism Is Imperative | CBCGDF Responsible Tourism Working Committee

The incident of a visitor throwing a cola bottle at the giant panda "Lan Xiang" at Chongqing Zoo has attracted widespread attention. The zoo's statement indicated that visitor Cao threw a cola bottle at "Lan Xiang" while it was eating bamboo, causing it to be startled. Security personnel promptly intervened, the keeper cleaned up the scene, and professionals examined "Lan Xiang" and confirmed its well-being. Cao was legally penalized for disturbing public order. The zoo will enhance protection measures, establish a platform to expose uncivilized behavior, and implement a blacklist system. They urge visitors to tour civilly, comply with regulations, not bring prohibited items into the park, and refrain from feeding, throwing objects, or tapping on the glass, to jointly safeguard the giant pandas.

This event highlights the lack of civilized tourism among some visitors. Civilized tourism is an act of respecting the environment of scenic spots and a reflection of personal quality. As a national treasure, the living environment and mental health of giant pandas require special protection, and improper behavior by visitors may cause harm. Civilized tourism is a code of conduct and a social responsibility. During the peak travel season, we should consciously abide by the regulations of scenic spots, respect the habits of wild animals, and tour civilly. We should learn about local culture and regulations in advance, revere nature, maintain a proper distance from wild animals, refuse to touch or feed them, and avoid making noise. When taking photos, consciously follow photography ethics to prevent negative impacts on animals. Do not deface or litter. During travel, our words and actions set an example for children, so we must be calm, civilized, polite, and orderly, demonstrating our good qualities. The act of throwing a cola bottle at the giant panda is an example of uncivilized behavior, reminding us that every trip is a demonstration of civilization. We should actively practice the concept of civilized and responsible tourism, starting with ourselves and starting now.
