CBCGDF Research on Integrated rice(Oryza sativa)-crayfish(Procambarus clarkii)Farming System Model in Tongbai County

Tongbai County, Henan Province, is exploring and implementing a "rice-crayfish integrated farming system" development model to improve agricultural production efficiency and ecological protection. While reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, this model also faces challenges such as soil water saturation and eutrophication of water bodies. To promote the sustainable development of this model, the following measures are needed:

1. Actively promote the improvement of rice varieties, and cultivate varieties suitable for "rice-shrimp co-cropping" mode, to improve the yield and resilience.

2. Scientific water and fertilizer management to ensure a reasonable supply of water and nutrients in the paddy field, to avoid soil water saturation and eutrophication of the water body.

3. Strictly limit the use of chemical pesticides that are sensitive to aquatic organisms and adopt green agricultural means such as biological control to protect the ecological environment.

4. Development and implementation of sustainable development policies, "rice shrimp" model to provide technical guidance, financial support and market protection, to encourage farmers to actively participate.

At the same time, considering the decline in market prices of crayfish, farmers can be encouraged to take crop rotation, replanting or a variety of ways to reduce the risk of a single industry and improve crop yields and economic benefits.
