World Earth Day, CBCGDF Volunteers Pick up over 100 Kilograms of Garbage in Water Source Protection Area

On April 22nd, the World Earth Day, the Suihua Wetland Conservation Area team of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) organized 10 volunteers carried out garbage and illegal nets cleaning activity in the first-level water source protection area near the Heiyupao Wetland Park in Beilin District, Suihua City. A total of 6 net cages were cleared, and more than 10 kilograms of catches such as crucian carp, catfish, mud snails, and loaches were rescued. More than 100 kilograms of plastic waste and discarded nets were also cleared.

 



 


The cleaning activity lasted for 7 hours. A volunteer participated in the activity with his 5-year-old daughter. After the cleaning up, the volunteers contacted the mayor's hotline, reporting issues such as garbage and illegal fishing in the water source area.
