Collaborative Endeavors: Longi Green Energy and CBCGDF Explore Joint Efforts in Eco-friendly New Energy

On the morning of April 24, 2024, Longi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. sent a delegation led by Director Ting Liu of the Strategic Marketing Department to discuss potential collaboration with the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF). Dr. Jinfeng Zhou, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CBCGDF, along with two Deputy Secretaries General and the Director of the Comprehensive Technology Department, warmly received the Longi Green Energy team for fruitful discussions and negotiations.

Director Ting Liu provided an overview of Longi Green Energy and its business focus, particularly highlighting recent developments in photovoltaic (PV) projects. In the context of dual carbon policies, she expressed interest in partnering with CBCGDF to enhance the scientific and ecological aspects of PV+ project solutions, including biodiversity conservation.

Dr. Jinfeng Zhou commended Longi Green Energy's commitment to ecological protection within their development strategy. As a leading national academic society in biodiversity conservation and green development, CBCGDF collaborates extensively with universities and research institutes, exploring advanced concepts related to PV lifespan prediction, lifecycle assessment of PV electricity generation, and biodiversity impacts of PV projects.

According to CBCGDF's past experiences, the impact of photovoltaic (PV) installations on biodiversity is a critical consideration for solar energy companies. PV projects, while offering sustainable energy solutions, can alter land use and habitats, leading to potential disruptions in local ecosystems and biodiversity. It's important for new energy companies to prioritize biodiversity conservation through careful site selection, habitat restoration, and implementation of eco-friendly practices during construction and operation. Ensuring legal compliance, promoting corporate responsibility, and supporting long-term ecosystem health are key motivations for PV companies to actively address and mitigate their impact on biodiversity. By integrating biodiversity conservation into their business strategies, PV companies can contribute positively to environmental sustainability and demonstrate leadership in responsible energy development.

Dr. Zhou expressed CBCGDF's willingness to collaborate with Longi Green Energy on eco-design throughout project lifecycles, systemic management of ecological impacts, enhancement of ecological benefits, and assessment of project ecological impacts. This partnership aims to support Longi Green Energy in internalizing eco-design and operational management of PV+ projects as core competencies, thereby anchoring the PV industry in a green ecological foundation and contributing to the healthy development of China's PV industry.

As Dr Zhou suggested, the promoted synergies between energy development and biodiversity conservaation will make a big difference. This dialogue represents a step towards aligning efforts in advancing sustainable energy solutions while safeguarding biodiversity, emphasizing the importance of partnerships between industry and conservation-focused organizations in driving green innovation and ecological stewardship.
