Zero Waste Life and Turning Waste into Treasure | CBCGDF CCAfa Activity on 2024 World Earth Day
The theme of World Earth Day on April 22, 2024 is “Planet vs Plastics”, to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution. Responding to this theme, the "Reduce & Pick-up Plastics" working group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) initiated the environmental protection project "Peoples vs. Plastics", calling for public participation and social co-governance, and hoping to rely on the power of the entire society to resist plastic pollution.
To convey the concept of "zero waste" life to the public on World Earth Day, the Guanghan Egret Conservation Area team of the CBCGDF invited parents and children to participate in the activity themed on "Zero Waste Life on Earth Day and Turning Waste into Treasure". Mr. REN Xian, the director of the conservation area, led parents and children to become "environmental detectives" and conducted a survey of garbage and other waste in the surrounding communities, including the types and quantities of garbage, to give everyone a clear understanding of the household waste around them. Parents and children who participated in the activity gained a deeper understanding of the harm of garbage to the natural environment and how to reduce the garbage through the investigations, discovery, thinking, and practical experience.
