CBCGDF on Climate Communication: Enhancing Awareness and Action, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation's Ongoing Efforts!

Climate communication is a process of conveying climate change-related information to the public through various media and channels. It aims to increase public awareness of climate change and its impacts, foster societal attention to environmental issues, and inspire individual and collective action to mitigate the effects of climate change.

In recent years, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has been actively exploring the field of climate communication. As a national public welfare foundation, CBCGDF has continuously sought innovations and utilized various channels and partnerships to advance climate communication processes.

In 2016, CBCGDF established a Climate Change Working Group, striving to promote climate knowledge through various means. For instance, in August 2021, the organization was authorized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to livestream the release event of the "2021 Climate Change: The Physical Science Basis" report, attracting 140,000 viewers online. This livestream event effectively disseminated authoritative scientific information to a wide audience, enhancing public understanding of climate change issues.

Furthermore, CBCGDF collaborated with multiple associations to establish the "Dual Carbon Fund," focusing on implementing dual-carbon strategies. This initiative aims to promote carbon reduction efforts and encourage various sectors of society to actively address the challenges of climate change.

In promoting climate action, CBCGDF has organized numerous thematic discussions, such as the "Wind and Solar Projects and Biodiversity Conservation" seminar, compiling a collection of 17 exemplary cases. These activities showcase practical examples and encourage enterprises and society to engage in sustainable development and ecological protection.

Simultaneously, CBCGDF's Climate Change Working Group has actively explored global climate governance efforts. The foundation collaborated with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and support its efforts in "Empowering Pakistan with Love" project, improving the living conditions of Pakistani refugees through clean energy initiatives. This international cooperation not only contributes to addressing climate issues but also demonstrates the commitment and responsibility of Chinese social organizations on a global scale.

CBCGDF has been actively participating in United Nations climate change conferences for many years. In addition to organizing events and collaborations, CBCGDF emphasizes capacity building. Members of the Climate Change Working Group have participated in various international conferences and seminars, such as the "IPCC Sixth Assessment Report Scientific Communication Seminar," strengthening learning and exchanges in the field of climate communication.

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation's integrated media platform has been translating the latest information from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) into Chinese, introducing it to Chinese readers and the public. When Chinese audiences search online for related information on "climate change" in Chinese, one of the primary sources of information often comes from CBCGDF's climate communication efforts.

To date, CBCGDF has developed a comprehensive media communication system, spanning multiple platforms and publishing over 30,000 climate communication-related articles, reaching approximately 10 billion readers. This sustained and dedicated effort contributes significantly to raising climate awareness and promoting societal action.

Looking back, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation has been committed to advancing climate communication through multidimensional work and collaborations. Moving forward, amidst the increasing prominence of global climate issues, CBCGDF will continue its efforts to drive climate communication, contributing to the realization of a beautiful China and a better world.
