CBCGDF Lifeline for Migratory Birds Project Went to Zhejiang Province for Investigation

On April 15, representatives from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Company, local wildlife conservation stations, social work service centers, Lanxi Justice Bureau and other institutions visited Lanxi Primary School to conduct Bird-loving and bird-protecting science education, and went to the egret habitat to conduct research.

The investigation found that the woods where egrets inhabit are relatively lush, and dozens of egrets can be seen staying on the branches, or occasionally flying. The forest is surrounded by paddy fields, where pearl clam farming is the main activity. The clams after pearl fishing can also become a food source for egrets. The surrounding environment is quiet and far away from the main road in the village. The newly built bird watching platform is about 200 away from the forest where the egrets live. People's activities at the bird watching platform have little impact on the egrets.

This event is also part of the "Migratory Bird Lifeline" project jointly carried out by CBCGDF and the State Grid Public Welfare Foundation. April 10th to April 16th is Bird Love Week in Zhejiang Province. This on-campus science popularization activity is also part of the local Bird Love Week activities.

Egrets, as an "indicator species" of the ecological environment, have extremely high requirements for the atmospheric and water environment. Muzautang Village, Youbu Town, Lanxi City, is the leading egret breeding gathering place in Zhejiang Province. The egrets migrate from March to July every year, attracting nearly 5,000 egrets to breed here.
