BIE Tao Addresses "Advancing National Biodiversity Protection Strategy Action Plan Symposium" Hosted by CBCGDF

On March 29, 2024, Mr. Bie Tao, the former Director-General of the Department of Regulations and Standards and Chief Legal Counsel of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, delivered a speech at the "Advancing National Biodiversity Protection Strategy Action Plan Symposium" hosted by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation.

Mr. Bie Tao proposed three main viewpoints: Firstly, he suggested to fill the gap in legislation on biodiversity conservation as soon as possible. He then emphasized that opportunities and challenges coexist, and the government attaches great importance to environmental protection. Since the 18th National Congress, China have faced the best opportunity. China's economic size is already the second largest in the world, and individual behavior should be more responsible for the environment, such as paying attention to the enormous ecological pressure brought by self-driving trips. At last, he called on all stakeholders to participate together to facilitate the legislation on biodiversity conservation.
