CBCGDF Volunteers Rescued More than 35 Kilograms of Wild Fish on the Hulan River Bank

On April 9, 2024, volunteers from the Suihua Wetland Conservation Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) discovered two several-meter-long cage nets on the Hulan River banks located in Dongfu Town and Qinjia Town in the Beilin district of Suihua City.

The volunteers used hooks to go down to the river bank and finally pulled out the cage nets from the muddy river bank with continuous efforts, rescuing over 35 kilograms of wild fish, including crucian carp, catfish, loaches, white fish, frogs and many other creatures. The volunteers also contacted the fishery law enforcement squadron leader of Beilin District, Suihua City to destroy the illegal cage nets which are illegal fishing tools that are expressly prohibited by national law. The volunteers also cleaned up garbage around the river banks after.
