The "Peoples vs. Plastics" project is an environmental protection project initiated by the "Reduce & Pick-up Plastics" working group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), responding to the theme of "Planet vs. Plastics" on World Earth Day in 2024, calling for public participation and social co-governance, and hoping to rely on the power of the entire society to resist plastic pollution.
This project has received positive responses from volunteers from all over the country. So far, a total of 49 activities have been held with 1824 participants and a total of 3572kg of garbage picked up and dealt with.
On April 22nd, the World Earth Day, volunteers from the Beauty Convention project of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) carried out the cleaning activity themed "Cherishing the Earth, Harmonious Coexistence between Human and Nature" in Pari Grassland.
Pali
Grassland is located at the junction of the northern and southern foothills of
the Himalayas, at an altitude of 4,360 meters. Many tourists are attracted to
come for sightseeing resulting in scattered plastic waste left.
Volunteers
carefully carried out full-coverage, carpet-like cleaning of grass, river
beaches, water banks and other areas without blind spots. a total of about
500kg of white garbage was removed.
The
volunteers also organized the "Beauty Convention Environmental Protection
Little Guardians" service team to educate and guide community children to
pay attention to environmental protection. They use weekends to organize primary
school students to clean up domestic garbage around the community and promote
environmental protection to passing tourists.
