ZHOU Jinfeng and the Secretary-General of the Institute of Cultural New Economy of Shanghai University have an in-depth discussion: ESG Scientific Framework Helps Enterprises Develop in a Low-carbon Way

On October 3, 2024, WU Hua, Secretary-General of the Institute of Cultural New Economy of Shanghai University, and LI Peng, Deputy Director of the Center for Transformation of Scientific Research Results of Cultural New Economy, visited the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF). They had in-depth exchanges with Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, academician of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences (WAAS), on how to reduce investment risks and promote corporate transformation, green industry upgrading and future cooperation between the two sides.

Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that the scientific and systematic ESG framework can help companies reduce investment risks and cross cycles. The core of ESG is the environment, but it does not target sound, light, electricity, water, gas and slag explicitly stipulated by law. ESG focuses on constraining those behavioral norms that are between law and morality. They are closely related to two things, one is climate change and the other is biodiversity. These two aspects seriously restrict the investment decisions of enterprises in the context of low carbon. Therefore, scientific ESG assessments should trace back to the source, revolve around the core of the environment, revolve around biodiversity and climate change, and be scientific and reasonable from the composition of the assessment personnel to the assessment content.

At present, the green industry is in the ascendant, new technologies such as carbon capture and carbon removal are being implemented in a solid manner, and the restoration of wetlands to restore the damage to nature caused by industrial civilization has been put on the agenda, and people's understanding of nature is constantly improving. It is hoped that individuals and enterprises, as social carriers, will participate in the historical trend of paying attention to the environment and biodiversity, and provide a Chinese solution for sustainable development around the world.

The two sides will continue to have in-depth and detailed exchanges on issues such as cooperation in green ecological environment governance and biodiversity protection. At the same time, further cooperation plans will be explored in the field of building zero-carbon industrial parks and biodiversity construction in factory areas.
