The National Park Law (Draft) Solicits Opinions, and the CBCGDF Legal Working Committee Puts forward 19 Suggestions

National parks are a type of protected areas. They originated in the United States and were later adopted by most countries and regions in the world. Since the establishment of the world's earliest national park, Yellowstone National Park, more than 100 countries in the world have established as many as 1,200 national parks with different styles and sizes.

In order to establish a national park system with Chinese characteristics, maintain the authenticity and integrity of natural ecosystems, and safeguard national ecological security, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration has launched national park legislation and made every effort to promote the formulation of laws. On September 10, 2024, the National Park Law of the People's Republic of China (Draft)  was submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for deliberation for the first time, and opinions were solicited from the public.

The Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF Legal Working Committee) attached great importance to it. After careful study, 19 amendments were proposed again. Among the 19 amendments, 6 amendments were proposed for Chapter 1, 5 amendments were proposed for Chapter 2, 4 amendments were proposed for Chapter 3, 4 amendments were proposed for Chapter 4, and 1 amendment was proposed for Chapter 6.

The CBCGDF Legal Working Committee's suggestions have been sent to the National People's Congress Legal Working Committee in writing via express delivery, and have been submitted one by one on the National People's Congress website as required.

The CBCGDF Legal Working Committee will continue to follow up on the revision process of the "Draft" and actively provide support and assistance.
