Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF Delivers an Opening Speech at the 3rd Mǎng(茻) Conference on October 13, 2024

On October 13, 2024, in the picturesque Suzhou Yinyu Water Center, the third Mǎng Conference(China Vegan Summit 2024) kicked off grandly. The conference was held from the 13th to the 15th, for a total of three days and two nights. As the first annual summit in China focusing on "plant-based diet and lifestyle", the Mǎng Conference has set sail again, aiming to build a global platform for cooperation and innovation, bringing together elites from all walks of life to jointly draw up a blueprint for the future of plant-based diet.

Ms. XIONG Yutong, Deputy Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation ( CBCGDF), attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

She pointed out that biodiversity is the foundation of human survival and development, and choosing a vegetarian diet helps biodiversity conservation. Vegetarianism can be an important strategy for coping with the climate crisis. Choosing a vegetarian diet is, to some extent, choosing health.

Therefore, the question of "what we eat" is related to major issues concerning the future destiny of mankind, such as biodiversity loss, public health, climate change, land and water resource utilization, food security, and social justice.

CBCGDF has been working in this field for many years. Vegetarianism has opened up a different perspective for us on biodiversity conservation and green development. Choosing a vegetarian diet is not only a choice of a healthy lifestyle, but also an important action to cope with climate change and protect the ecological environment.
