The opening ceremony of the Fifth Remote Sensing Conference on Vegetation Pests and Diseases will take place on October 19, 2024, at 8:30 AM Beijing time. The event will be broadcast live on the Green Association Media platform.
This year's conference is jointly organized by prominent institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Aerospace Information Research Institute, the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, the Chinese Society of Plant Protection, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration's Center for Biological Disaster Prevention, the Grassland Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, the Chinese Agricultural Technology Promotion Association, the Smart Agriculture Committee of the Chinese Society of Crop Science, Manchester Metropolitan University, Anhui University, and Xianghu Laboratory.

The conference focuses on the advancements and trends in research related to the monitoring, early warning, and control of vegetation pests and diseases through remote sensing, spatial information, and big data technologies. It encompasses a wide array of fields, including remote sensing, plant protection, ecology, environmental science, meteorology, artificial intelligence, and science and technology ethics, with applications relevant to agriculture, forestry, and grassland pest monitoring and warning systems, green prevention strategies, biodiversity conservation, and ecological safety assessments. The conference aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and deep integration between industry, academia, research, and application, thereby advancing theoretical research, methodological innovation, technology promotion, and application demonstrations in the realm of vegetation pests and diseases.

The 2024 World Water Forum (10th WWF) under the theme of "Water for Shared Prosperity" officially opened on Indonesia's island of Bali on Monday.
