CBCGDF CCAFa’s Joint Patrol along Hulan River in Suihua County to Combat Illegal Fishing

Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) is a global biodiversity solution designed to mitigate the rapid loss of biodiversity through people-centered approaches. As an innovative initiative for biodiversity conservation in the era of ecological civilization, "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood" is a people-engaged solution, encouraging active contributions from the public in reducing biodiversity footprints in daily life, engaging in nature conservation, and actively contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As of Jan 2024, over 210 community conservation areas have been established to carry out Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON). BCON)" has been recognized as one of the global solutions for nature at the 2023 Paris Peace Forum.

On October 11, 2024, volunteers of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) from Suihua Wetland Conservation Area and law enforcement officers from the Fishery Law Enforcement Brigade of Beilin District, Suihua Country, jointly conducted patrol along the Hulan River Basin.

During this patrol, a total of 5 illegal fishing nets were cleaned up and destroyed, including 2 ground cage nets and 3 gown nets. In addition, the patrol officers conducted legal and scientific publicity for the on-site releaser, emphasizing that the release must be legal, compliant and reasonable, and that alien species must not be released.

This joint patrol effectively cracked down on illegal fishing, raised the public's awareness of ecological protection, and contributed to the ecological protection of the Hulan River Basin.
