Zhou Jinfeng Invited to Attend the China-U.S. Circular Economy Cooperation Forum

Recently, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, received an invitation to attend in the China-U.S. Circular Economy Cooperation Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Beijing on September 6, 2024. The forum is co-organized by the China Association of Circular Economy and the U.S.-China Business Council, with the support of relevant government departments from both China and the United States.

As a longstanding advocate for biodiversity conservation and green development in China, and the proposer of the "Equal Rights of Carbon" (ERoC) theory, Dr. Zhou has been invited to serve as the lead speaker at the closed-door session on "Enhancing the Value of Waste Recycling in New Business Models and Consumption Patterns."

This forum comes at a time when the global consensus on green, low-carbon, and circular development is strengthening. The circular economy has become a critical approach for countries to address environmental challenges, combat climate change, and foster new drivers of economic growth. In November 2023, China and the United States jointly issued the "Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis," which initiated the China-U.S. Climate Action Working Group to focus on cooperation in the fields of circular economy and resource efficiency. The forum is being organized as a step toward further implementing the goals of this statement.

The forum aims to bring together high-level representatives and experts from government agencies, leading enterprises, research institutions, industry associations, and international organizations from both China and the United States. The discussions will center on key topics such as the role of the circular economy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the promotion of recycled materials, the management and recycling of plastic pollution, and enhancing the value of waste recycling under new business models and consumption patterns. This event provides a high-level platform for dialogue and cooperation between Chinese and American enterprises, with the goal of achieving more substantial collaborative outcomes in the circular economy, leading to mutual benefits.
