CBCGDF Received a Request for Help from a Volunteer Because the Road Was Washed Away by Heavy Rain and It Was Impossible to Walk

On August 19, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received a call for help from beekeeper Liu: he said that because the forest road was washed away by heavy rain some time ago, he and two other beekeepers from other places who came here to release bees have been trapped on the mountain for nearly a month, and they are still unable to leave the mountain. He hopes that the relevant parties can repair the road out of the mountain as soon as possible to facilitate the migration of the bees.

Mr. Liu from Hubei Province has a history of beekeeping for more than 20 years. Like other beekeepers, they basically move around the country every year according to the different seasons and the different flowering periods in different places.

In early June this year, Mr. Liu moved from Jinzhong, Shanxi Province to Jingou Forest Farm in Huangnihe Town, Dunhua City, Yanbian Prefecture, Jilin Province, and temporarily settled down in the mountains in this area to release bees to collect linden honey. "I stayed in Shanxi for nearly a month before, mainly collecting local locust flower honey. The flowering period is over, so I came to Jilin," said Mr. Liu. He originally planned to move around July 25 and go to the next point, Xiangcheng, Zhoukou City, Henan Province, to collect sesame honey. Unexpectedly, on July 21-22, a heavy rainstorm washed the fire escape into the mountain into a mess, "and it was completely impossible to get down the mountain."The honey market is very bad this year, almost the worst in decades.
