CBCGDF Standards Committee Initiates Revision of the "Biodiversity Survey and Monitoring Standard" | More Comprehensive, Scientific, and in Line with the Times

China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) issued and implemented the "Biodiversity Survey and Monitoring Standard" (T/CGDF 00001-2020) in June 2020. The standard specifies the scope, cycle, principles, content and methods, key survey objects and results requirements for biodiversity survey and monitoring, and is the basis for natural science surveys of different ecological types of protected areas and protected areas.

After years of practical application and the development of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and environmental DNA, Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, the Vice chairman and Secretary General of CBCGDF, proposed that biodiversity surveys should be comprehensive, targeted, in line with the times, and learn and apply the most advanced science and technology and scientific ideas.

The CBCGDF Standards Committee has begun to revise the "Biodiversity Survey and Monitoring Standard" to better implement the specific actions of China's biodiversity conservation strategy.

According to reports, on July 10, 2024, the "Huangyan Island Sea Area Ecological Environment Status Survey and Assessment Report" jointly compiled by the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other five units was released. This also shows that China is gradually carrying out comprehensive biodiversity surveys and assessments, collecting and accumulating precious first-hand data, and making efforts for global biodiversity protection.
