Zhou Jinfeng and European Animation Director Wouter Dierickx Discuss Cooperation on Plastic Pollution and Biodiversity
Recently, Dr Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) met with Mr Wouter Dierickx, a renowned European animation director and discussed in depth the issue of plastic pollution and future cooperation in popularizing biodiversity knowledge.
Dr. Zhou Jinfeng introduced the story of the Beijing Swiftlet, pointing out that it is difficult for the birds to find nesting habitats due to the reduction of traditional buildings. By installing sensors, the birds were found to fly from Beijing to Europe and South Africa and back to Beijing every year.
Mr. Wouter Dierickx expressed great interest in the presentations, believing that the importance of biodiversity and environmental protection can be vividly demonstrated through storytelling to raise public awareness. He introduced their biodegradable single-use plastic alternatives made from rice husks and the "Plastic is not cool" campaign, which aims to reduce plastic pollution and raise awareness of the issue through art exhibitions.
In the future, Mr. Wouter Dierickx would like to present the story of biodiversity in the form of animation, to jointly promote the popularization of biodiversity knowledge and solve the problem of plastic pollution. Dr Zhou Jinfeng said he looks forward to enhancing public awareness and action on environmental protection through various forms.
