Sara Platto, Secretary General of CBCGDF BASE, Talks on Successful Development Strategies for SIDS | CBCGDF Side Event at the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)
The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) was held in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27th to 30th, 2024, during which, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held a side event titled "Marine Biodiversity and Sustainable Development of Small Island" at 15:00-18:00 (Beijing time) on May 28th.
Dr.
Sara Platto delivered a speech titled: “Thriving Through Sustainability:
Successful Development Strategies in SIDS”. Dr. Sara Platto is an expert in
animal behavior, welfare and veterinary medicine. She is currently an associate
professor at the School of Life Sciences at Jianghan University. She won the
2020 Chinese Government’s Friendship Award.
At
the meeting, she explained the local ecological knowledge of small island
developing States, their energy dependence characteristics, and the alternative
economic models that have been successfully implemented in some small island
developing States (SIDS).
