Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighbourhood (BCON) for Pollinators

The survival of the Asian honey bee , Apis cerana is facing challenges due to threats such as the alien species Italian bee (Apis mellifera) and pesticide abuse.

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighbourhood (BCON) Working Group has established 3 CBCGDF Apis cerana Community Conservation Areas in Henan province (CCAfa096), Jiangsu province(CCAfa159) and Beijing city (CCAfa199), , to actively carry out the BCON for Pollinators.

In addition, the BCON Working Group established the CBCGDF Beehive Fund to support beekeeping communities in extreme difficulties through funding, and advocates decision-makers to strengthen the protection of native pollinators and actively participate in the relevant processes of global pollinator conservation, such as the resolution on pollinators at the CBD COP14.
