CBCGDF Representative Will Participate in Preparatory Meeting for the 2025 UN Ocean Conference

The Preparatory Meeting for the 2025 UN Ocean Conference will be held on July 2nd,2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York to consider the themes for the Ocean Action panels and elements for the declaration, taking into the call by Member States for a brief, concise, action-oriented and intergovernmentally agreed declaration. The Ocean&Wetlands Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has nominated representatives to participate in the meeting on-site.



In resolution 78/272 of 24 April 2024 (currently available as A/78/L.41), the General Assembly decided to establish the Commission, and further decided that the Commission shall hold a three-day organizational meeting to discuss organizational matters, including the election of the Co-Chairs and a Bureau, the dates of the meetings of the Commission and the programme of work of the Commission. to prepare for the convening of the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Agreement.

 

The CBCGDF Ocean and Wetlands Working Group has participated in many global conferences related to marine governance to promote global marine environmental governance and marine biodiversity conservation, such as 2022 UN Ocean Conference, 2024 Ocean Decade Conference, the Intergovernmental Conference on an international legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction, and the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), meanwhile holding a series of side events.
