CBCGDF Ocean&Wetlands Working Group Received Pertinent Documents of ISA 29th Assembly

The meeting of the twenty-ninth session of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority will be held from July 29 to August 2nd in Kingston, Jamaica. As an observer to the International Seabed Authority, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received from the Secretariat the Program and information note on matters of the meeting.



In the meeting, the Secretary-General will present his annual report and a progress report on the implementation of the action plan of the International Seabed Authority in support of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

 

During the meeting, the Assembly will elect the Secretary-General for a four-year term from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2028 from among the list of candidates proposed by the Council.

 

Provisional agenda is as follows: 1. Opening of the session. 2. Adoption of the agenda. 3. Election of the President. 4. Election of the Vice-Presidents. 5. Appointment of the Credentials Committee. 6. Consideration of requests for observer status in accordance with rule 82, paragraph 1 (e), of the rules of procedure of the Assembly. 7. Election to fill a vacancy on the Finance Committee, in accordance with section 9, paragraph 5, of the annex to the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982. 8. Annual report of the Secretary-General under article 166, paragraph 4, of the Convention. 9. Report on the review of the high-level action plan for the extended period 2019–2025 for alignment with the extension of the strategic plan of the International Seabed Authority for the period 2019–2025. 10. Fifth edition of the Secretary-General’s Award for Excellence in Deep-Sea Research. 11. Periodic review of the international regime of the Area pursuant to article 154 of the Convention. 12. Report of the interim Director General of the Enterprise. 13. Report and recommendations of the Finance Committee. 14. Adoption of the budget of the Authority. 1 15. Adoption of the scale of assessment for the contributions to the budget of the Authority.
