On July 18, 2023, the Biological and Scientific Ethics Committee(BASE), the One Health Working Committee, and the Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) held a joint working meeting to discuss in a fruitful manner the animal welfare and technology ethics for livestock and poultry breeds, biological resources development, zoonotic diseases and other issues.

The meeting discussed that the animal welfare of livestock and poultry breeds is an important aspect of ensuring their health and well-being. To ensure animal welfare, we need to consider factors such as suitable housing environment, feed and water sources, and pay attention to animal behavior and physiological needs. At the same time, ensuring that animals are free from disease, pain and risk of cruelty. The realization of animal welfare requires a comprehensive consideration of feeding management, vaccination, disease prevention and treatment, etc., to ensure that animals receive proper care and protection during breeding and production. Some experts also mentioned that after the introduction of the "European Green Deal", animal welfare will be part of the "green competitiveness" of my country's livestock and agricultural product exports, and should be deployed as soon as possible.

Secondly, in the management of breeding livestock and poultry, scientific and technological ethics issues should be taken into consideration. Furthermore, the protection and sustainable utilization of genetic resources of breeding livestock and poultry are crucial. Finally, issues concerning zoonotic diseases and One Health are discussed.
