Fang Jun: Construction of Modern Health Governance System from One-Health Perspective | The 7th Symposium on Ecological Civilization and National Park System Construction

Dr. Fang Jun, Secretary-General of the One Health Working Committee of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attended the symposium themed on “National Parks, Landscape Recreation and Healthy China” at invitation, and delivered a keynote speech.

The symposium “National Parks, Landscape Recreation and Healthy China”, held from June 10 to 11 in Shanghai, is one of the events of the 7th Symposium on Ecological Civilization and National Park System Construction from June 10 to 11.

Dr. Fang Jun’s statement is summarized and shared as follows:

Dear distinguished guests,

First of all, on behalf of the China Biodiversity and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), I would like to congratulate the successful convening of this event. Thanks for Professor Wu and Tongji University and the organizing committee of the conference for giving me the opportunity to participate in and share with you the work we have done on the One health and healthy China.

The title of my speech is “Construction of Modern Health Governance System from the One-Health Perspective”. I would like to introduce the three aspects: health challenges, the development and application of the One health and modern health management and healthy city construction.

·Health challenges

One of the most important health challenges is public health emergency posed by infectious diseases. It has had a great impact on the development of human civilization. And 60 percent of infectious diseases are zoonotic diseases. Infectious diseases and their secondary disasters have caused great crises to human civilization and development.

  • The development and application of the One health

One Health is an integrated, unifying approach to balance and optimize the health of people, animals and the environment. It is particularly important to prevent, predict, detect, and respond to global health threats. One Health involves the public health, veterinary, public health and environmental sectors. The One Health approach is particularly relevant for food and water safety, nutrition, the control of zoonoses, pollution management, and combatting antimicrobial resistance. In order to promote the construction and development of the discipline of One Health, CBCGDF has established the Working Committee on One Health. ‍‍

  • Modern health management and healthy city construction

How to use modern health management methods to carry out healthy city construction? In a large social environment, such as a city, we should first pay attention to the health of its population, but also pay attention to social health, and pay attention to ecological health. ‍We need to look at the One health in different areas, down to the family, community, city, and finally the national level.

The construction of a healthy city requires us to promote the healthy development of the city’s social economy, politics, culture and ecological civilization. The second is to promote population development, improve the moral and health level of the public, and build a city with high health quality.
