What Are the Negative Effects of the Import and Processing of Foreign Garbage on the Environment | CBCGDF Climate Change Working Group
The import and processing of foreign garbage have numerous negative impacts on the environment.
First, the waste often contains a large amount of hazardous materials. When these are imported and processed, there is a high risk of soil contamination. For example, electronic waste may contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. If not properly disposed of during processing, these metals can seep into the soil, making it infertile and harmful to plants and animals.
The processing of foreign garbage can also lead to water pollution. Chemicals used in the sorting and treatment of waste can be discharged into water bodies. This can disrupt aquatic ecosystems, killing fish and other organisms.
Furthermore, the burning of certain types of foreign garbage to extract valuable materials releases harmful gases into the atmosphere. These gases contribute to air pollution and can have adverse effects on human health, such as respiratory problems. In short, the import and processing of foreign garbage pose a serious threat to the environment that needs to be curbed.
