How to Solve Human-wildlife Conflict? The Experience of Sanjiangyuan National Park May Be Worth Learning from | CBCGDF Media Reports

Recently, a news article entitled The Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration takes multiple measures to ease the contradictions of human-animal conflict, with a maximum compensation of 600,000 yuan has attracted attention.

With the recovery and expansion of some wild animal populations, wild animals continue to disturb the personal and property safety of local residents, causing many local residents to feel uneasy. On the one hand, the legal protection of wild animals makes it impossible for ordinary people to dispose of wild animals at will; on the other hand, the unexpected encounter with wild animals causes the loss of personal and property rights of the people. According to the introduction of Luosang Cairang, chief engineer and second-level inspector of the Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration, in order to ease the contradictions of human-wildlifel conflict, the Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration has implemented a unified pilot project of compensation for personal and property losses caused by terrestrial wild animals in the province in the park, and the maximum compensation for accidental injuries is 600,000 yuan. This compensation behavior can greatly alleviate the dissatisfaction of local people with wild animals in human-animal conflicts, thereby promoting the protection of wild protected animals by local residents. By striving for 20 million yuan of central fiscal funds, two rounds of pilot projects on compensation for grassland competition between wild animals and livestock were carried out within the Sanjiangyuan National Park, which further resolved the conflict between wild animals and domestic livestock for food, guaranteed the living conditions of wild animals and poultry, and further promoted the better survival of wild animals in the protected area.
