Exploring Biodiversity Conservation in Renewable Energy: CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-General Will Join “Biodiversity and Ecological Protection in Renewable Energy” Event
On November 7, 2024, the Netherlands Embassy in Beijing will host an event focused on "Biodiversity and Ecological Protection in Renewable Energy." Linda Wong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), has been invited to attend.
This gathering centers on the theme of “Biodiversity and Ecological Protection in Renewable Energy,” with an emphasis on how biodiversity conservation principles can be effectively integrated into renewable energy projects. Participants will share their research findings and practical experiences, delving into topics such as managing the impact of offshore wind farms on marine ecosystems, the development of eco-friendly renewable energy solutions, and how international collaboration and sustainable resource use can be promoted throughout this process. Through specialized discussions, the event aims to foster a collaborative platform for diverse stakeholders to advance the harmonious development of biodiversity protection and renewable energy.
Co-hosted by the embassies of Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands, the event will gather representatives from government, NGOs, research institutions, and businesses from both Europe and China. Together, they will share insights, discuss research findings, and explore avenues for strengthened cooperation in integrating biodiversity considerations within the renewable energy sector.
CBCGDF has long prioritized issues surrounding the biodiversity impacts of wind and solar energy projects, as well as the synergistic effects of biodiversity and climate action. The Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF has accepted this invitation with the goal of learn best practices, to foster deeper exchanges with experts and participants at the event.
