On the afternoon of November 6, 2024, the 7th China Import Expo and Hongqiao International Economic Forum will hold a sub-forum on the theme of “Sustainable Trade amid Climate Change: Challenges, Opportunities and Paths to Cooperation” at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai). The forum is to be hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and organized by the China International Import Expo Bureau & Center for China and Globalization.
The forum will focus on the impact of green trade on building a climate-friendly global trading system, analyze the impact of climate change on international trade and economy based on the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Convention, the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the outcome of the COP28, etc., and discuss how to address climate change through policy adjustment, technological innovation and international cooperation, while promoting economic development.
The forum will invite top experts, scholars and industry leaders from various countries and regions around the world to participate in the exchange and discussion.
Representatives of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will have a dialog with Erik Solheim (Co-Chair of the Eurasia Center, former Minister of Environment and Minister of International Development of Norway, and former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme) and other participants on the prospects for green development and sustainable trade in the industry. It is expected that this dialog will convey China's voice, collide cutting-edge views, and provide ideas and strategies for sustainable trade and green industry development under the global climate change.
