CBD COP16 Has Ended, and CBCGDF Delegation Attended the Meeting in Full

 Following Sunday’s ceremony, opening and regional statements marked the beginning of the official proceedings of the UN Biodiversity Conference, including the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the 11th Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CP MOP 11), and the fifth Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol (NP MOP 5) on access and benefit-sharing (ABS).

 


The delegation from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has arrived in Colombia to attend the meeting.

 

Plenary elected new members for the Compliance Committees for the CP and the NP. COP 17 Venue: Parties voted, in a secret ballot, on the venue of COP 17. Armenia was elected host of COP 17, to be held in 2026, with 65 votes, while Azerbaijan received 58 votes. ARMENIA expressed their appreciation to parties and aspired to “transfer the spirit of Cali to Yerevan.”

On the eve of International Women ’ s Day, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), was invited to meet with   Ms.   María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, President of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly , for an informal dialogue .
